SiMlife 2016

(Formerly Youth Summit) “Explore Hong Kong, Explore Yourself”

Introduction

SiMlife aims to allow participants to explore the beauty of Hong Kong and at the same time the inner beauty of oneself. Thus, it is not simply a hiking activity. We will introduce participants to the most historical and authentic side of Hong Kong, facilitating them to appreciate this city’s beauty and charisma from different perspectives. A series of organized activities will help the participants discover their full potential and guide them to re-evaluate their life goals. At the same time, students are required to investigate one specific social issue when they visit each of the designated location. There will be discussions and opportunities to share individual experiences as to enhance the students’ understanding towards the issues.

SiMlife is an adventurous camp that will be held from 25th to 28th March, 2016. Participants are invited to visit three secluded places in Hong Kong, which have yet to be explored by the general public. The main theme of SiMlife is “Explore Hong Kong, Explore Yourself”. We aim to encourage students to find a balance between their study and leisure. We believe that this program will greatly develop participants’ attitude, intelligence, leadership, adversity quotient and fitness. At the same time, we will bring up social issues when visiting different places to achieve our aim of exploring Hong Kong. During the trip, students are able to observe the chosen spot and have a discussion about an issue. Students can also share their learning outcomes at the end of this programme. From this project, participants can develop their skills of thinking outside the box when planning their future. We are sure that this is a valuable opportunity for students to challenge oneself, as well as to overcome various obstacles.

SiMlife is a fun activity to participate in. Students will definitely form new friendships and gain rich experiences in our intensive program and close interaction with one another. All in all, our ultimate goal is to allow students to reflect on their lives.

*The quota of SiMlife is very limited, we have got quality group leaders and organising committees. Please do not hesitate to join this meaningful program, which could be life-changing! The application is due 5/3! Interview will be arranged afterwards.

Remember, the quota is very limited! Please join as soon as possible!

Explorez 2016

(Formerly named Youth Summit)

“Behind the prosperity, we CARE!”

Introduction

“Explorez 2016” is a project which aims to enhance students’ understanding toward social issues. It is a social experiencing project that will be held in July. The main objectives of “Explorez 2016” are to provide a platform for students to understand current social conditions and try to showcase their learning outcomes through different social platforms. As the future leader of Hong Kong, the youth generation is responsible to overcome current social problems like social inequality and unhappiness of Hong Kong people. Thus, our association would like to organize this project to achieve those objectives mentioned. As the well-known youth organization in Hong Kong, we would like to lead other youths to explore more about the society and provide a platform to practice their learning. Also, as the organization which gathers countless student elites, one of our main objectives is to learn from real-life experiences and contribute to the community as much as our capabilities support.

In this project, we will try to investigate different stakeholders of the society. This project acts as the learning process of these issues and our participants will be able to get the first-hand information. It does not only facilitate students to understand the issue better, but it will also stimulate students to think more about these issues. Afterwards, we hope they can use their knowledge to share with others to raise awareness. We believe that this program can act as a milestone for students to become change-makers, ultimately creating positive impacts to society.

The project will be divided to three different parts. Firstly, an experiencing camp which lasts for four days from 11th July to 14th July. Students will have a fundamental understanding towards the four focus group, namely the disabled, the impoverished, the ethnic minorities and the new immigrants. Each group will have their specific role according to the theme on different days of the activity and they will have to experience the real living situation of the four focus groups. Furthermore, our designed activities with different tasks and missions of “social demonstration” will also be provided in an attempt to enrich participants’ experience. In light of this, we expect our participants to experience the difficulties that our target groups faced and eventually derive feasible solutions to address the social issues. Afterwards, students are required to experience an exploring session and they may need to visit different organizations and do some researches towards their focus groups. Finally, they will need to finish a “micro-film” and present their learning in the closing ceremony.
