Published materials in 2006-2007 and activites organised by the 20th ExCo. < Back 2006-2007 20th ExCo Year Last Updated: 11 Sept 2024 Tags: International Convergence, Volunteer Training Scheme, Youth Summit, Interflow Camp #1 International Convergence 2006 Introduction The International Convergence 2006, the first external project hosted in the Association’s 20th anniversary, has proven to be a very auspicious beginning. Under the theme “Our Globe in Focus”, the International Convergence 2006 brought together 70 top students from 27 schools around Hong Kong, who engaged in a comprehensive and interesting study of 7 different countries, culminating in a spectacular final banquet. The project is a multicultural-experience scheme that aims to promote the understanding of cultural diversity and international cooperation through the learning and understanding of different countries’ unique cultures. The emphasis, however, of the project is “experience”, with the participants not only learning about the history, language and current affairs of their given countries, but also undergoing a unique series of cultural visits and experiences that broadened their understanding of their countries’ culture in a dynamic way. Throughout the scheme, the participants underwent unique cultural experiences, ranging from cooking sessions, to temple/church visits, to dance/music workshops, to interviews with the Consul Generals of the seven countries represented – Germany, India, Israel, Mexico, South Africa, Spain and Thailand. In addition, workshops were held to educate the participants on various topics such as globalisation and international cooperation. The scheme culminated with a closing banquet, in which the participants presented their cultural experiences and conversed with representatives from the various consulates of the countries in Hong Kong. Following the success of the inaugural International Convergence last year, the 20th Executive Committee further enlarged the scale of the project, increasing the duration to three and a half weeks, the number of participants, the scope of the visits and even the addition of a Movie Appreciation Week, where participants were treated to one of their countries’ famous movies and given an appreciation from a Guest Advisor to the project. In addition, with the projects’ emphasis on cultural exchange, the participants were exposed to many nationals from their given countries, including students from the Li Po Chun United World College of HK, Guest Advisors from cultural associations in Hong Kong, dance instructors, consulate representatives and even the Consul Generals of each of the countries! It is hoped that through this project, participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of cultural diversity and global cooperation. These activities included visits to mosques and temples, local dance sessions and cooking of traditional cuisines. Each group also visited the consulates of its assigned country and interviewed either the Consul or Consul-General. Participants were able to gather first-hand information and acquire insight on the culture and background of their countries. Movie Appreciation Week (13th November 2006 - 18th November 2006) Participants were provided the chance to watch a movie featuring their particular country’s history and culture with a national of their respective countries. Participants learnt to appreciate the beauty of the art and culture of different countries through a leisurely activity. Since most movies were never shown in Hong Kong, the sessions also exposed participants to a different level of aesthetic understanding. Cultural Project Week (13th November 2006 - 18th November 2006) During this week, participants prepared presentations to promote their country’s culture, art and history. These preparations allowed participants to reflect on what they have experienced throughout the project, thus, reinforcing the knowledge they have gained. The presentations took place during the Closing Banquet in front of representatives from consulates and cultural societies. The project also provided a valuable opportunity for students to interact with equally able and like-minded students. The Scheme took place from the 18th February 2006 to the 8th April 2006. Theme The theme of this year’s project, “To Feel and Heal” contained two key aspects. To “feel” meant to foster empathy for those less fortunate ones showing compassion and respect. Clients with sensory defects, including the blind, the deaf, the disabled and the mentally handicapped, were specifically chosen as the chief focus of this project mainly due to the fact that the difficulties these clients encounter in life are not fully understood by many. The second aspect of the project, to “heal”, referred to participants being encouraged to take action in helping these people. Outline of the ProjectAmong other things, the scheme offered such novel programs as training workshops, which were held to equip participants with the practical skills and knowledge specifically required to deal with these clients. A Service Experience Week was also included for students who did not have such a broad experience in community service. It is our sincerest hope that through the project, participants did not only learn to help others but also realise their own potentials and access their own strengths and weaknesses through interaction with like-minded students. In April, over a hundred young leaders, nominated by their respective schools, gathered to discuss past success and failures, to discuss future policies and developments, and have successfully showed all guests present that this is a generation of innovative and politically conscious minds. Students were split into the two separate councils – Economic Affairs and Social Affairs – and given the opportunity to review key policies and developments that have taken place in their assigned commissions over the last decade, following which they debated future reforms and how Hong Kong may better use the intricate and continually developing relationship with China to raise herself towards greater heights. The final summit, attended by The Hon. Rita FAN HSU Lai-tai took place on the 21st April, with participants debating resolutions that they had produced followed by a Dinner Banquet at Joseph’s on the Graduate at HKU. The overall theme of the Summit was “Beyond the Decade”, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s Handover back to China. Amongst the discussion and debate, various commission seminars by renowned government officials as well as Legislative Councillors were held to further enrich the knowledge of students on various topics of their discussion. Another highlight was the fictional crisis that was introduced towards the end of the Summit and around which the students had to write another resolution to solve. The Hong Kong Youth Summit 2007 proved to be a valuable opportunity for leaders of the future to step up, to converse with bright minds, to learn from mentors. It is our sincerest wish that through the programme, participants were able to channel inspiration into aspiration, and embrace and solve problems facing society. Published materials in 2021-2022 and activites organised by the 35th ExCo. < Back 2021-2022 35th ExCo Year Last Updated: 11 Sept 2024 Tags: Social Service Series, Youth Summit, Coffee Chat, Study Abroad Series #1 Voyage Beyond: Social Service Series The " Voyage Beyond " Social Service Series, organised jointly by the Hong Kong Outstanding Students’ Association and Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association, was successfully held from November to December 2021. Targeting young children from low-income families, the activities aimed to pique their interest in English through interactive methods and increase their confidence in speaking English in the long run. Volunteers' Training Workshops A series of activities were designed by volunteers from different secondary schools and the our ExCo members over the period. Training workshops were held November by our ExCo members to brief volunteers on the programme and equip them with the necessary event management and communication skills. Service Sessions 1 & 2: Storytelling The service sessions kickstarted in December. A dozen of young participants listened to tales from around the world in engaging storytelling sessions and played group games that consolidated their newly acquired knowledge. Tales told in the sessions include " Momotaro" from Japan and "The Empty Pot" from ancient China. The activities exposed our participants to different cultures and taught them to embrace the diversity across borders. Service Session 3: Fun Day Towards the end of the programme, participants had a fun time making kibi dango , a snack which appeared in the Japanese story. The social service series concluded with a taste-testing session of the snacks prepared and a group photo session. A Very Merry Christmas Overall, responses from both the volunteers and children are positive as evidenced by their active participation in the programme and post-event evaluation. Designed to be different from the usual classroom setting, the highly interactive Voyage Beyond social service series made English more approachable for young learners, and gave them a taste of travelling abroad at the time when outbound travel became difficult. As our vision goes, we will continue to make unremitting efforts to “synergise and serve” different disadvantaged groups. #2 Uni Hub (Postponed due to the Pandemic) Every year, plenty of our members embark on their journeys at university, where they might encounter different adversities and uncertainties. UniHub was aimed at providing a platform for senior OSArs to give guidance and support to freshmen OSArs of the same university, accompanying them during ups and downs in the new environment. Unfortunately, due to the 5th wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed. #3 Hong Kong Youth Summit 2022 The Hong Kong Youth Summit 2022: “ Anti-Apocalypse ” was successfully held from April 12 - 14. In the three-day virtual event, our guest speakers: Mr. Jason Yip, Prof. Jonathan Choi, and Ms. Benita Chick gave inspiring and informative keynote speeches as participants drew inspiration from their talks and explored pressing global issues threatening humanity. The speeches were interspersed with group activities , such as a friendly debate, a trivia, and a session for participants to design their future planet. On the last day of the event, participants gave creative presentations followed by a Q&A session on a wide range of topics that were chosen based on their interests, including the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, the impact of artificial intelligence on social media, and plastic pollution. Each group also proposed solutions to tackle the challenges, responding to the theme “ Anti-Apocalypse ” of the event. While humanity faces many challenges in these uncertain times, the Hong Kong Youth Summit 2022 is a reminder that the world is not beyond saving and highlights the importance of engaging the youth in addressing global problems . This programme is aimed at helping participants gain insight in the social issues related to our theme this year. The focus will be on the direct experience of these issues through a close encounter with the relevant stakeholders and a deep and critical reflection on these issues through various challenging tasks and group work after the experiencing sessions. Theme of PV 17 Our theme this year is “Rediscover the Fading Colours”. Due to the economic structure, the education system and the influence of the media and other stakeholders in society, the definition of being successful, being outstanding and contributing to Hong Kong has become increasingly narrow, perhaps limited to a few career choices. It is against this context that we chose the theme “Rediscover the Fading Colours”. We hope our participants could learn more about industries that were more prominent in the past but face a declining awareness and interest from Hong Kong youths and have a rethink of the role these industries could play in advancing the city’s future. Programme highlights Immersive workshops The four highlight industries for our theme this year are minibus signs(小巴水牌), movable-type printing(活字印刷), traditional costumes(傳統服裝) and vintage snacks(懷舊小食). We are cooperating with selected practitioners of these industries to offer tailor-made immersive workshops to participants. Participants will be engaged in one of these industries in which they could observe the daily working procedures, try out certain working procedures and converse and interact with the practitioners to gain an immersive understanding of the industry. Labour simulation Apart from the four highlight industries, many industries or careers in Hong Kong are also facing a decline in awareness and interest. We are offering a simulation for participants in which they have to cooperate with one another to complete certain physical tasks. Specific rules and details of the simulation will be announced during the experiencing camp. Documentary production and sharing Participants will form groups based on which highlight industry they were engaged in to produce a 12-minute documentary about the industry and their experience in the programme. To allow participants from different groups to exchange insight about their respective industries, all documentaries will be played in a cinema during the closing ceremony in which special guests would be invited to attend. Special awards would be given to commend documentaries with quality and made with effort. We are cooperating with qualified individuals or organisations to provide guidance to participants in producing the documentaries. Our vision Through the aforementioned activities, we hope participants could rediscover the gradually neglected parts of Hong Kong society which made it so unique in the first place, and form their own informed opinions on the vista, or outlook of Hong Kong in the future. Participant Up to 50 OLE hours may be awarded for full and active participation. #2 Hong Kong Youth Summit 2017 – YS17 香港青年高峰論壇2017 Introduction Hong Kong Youth Summit 2017 (YS 17) will be held during late February and early April 2017, aiming at providing a platform that is open for all the participants to obtain a deeper understanding of contemporary social issues and situations, as well as to debate and discuss on issues related to our theme this year. Theme of YS 17 “Diversity, Harmony, Understand the Variety” In recent years, conflicts among various social groups have intensified greatly. To give participants a chance to understand more about the diversity among them and to have a clearer picture of the variety of our Hong Kong society, we have chosen “Diversity, Harmony, Understand the Variety” as the theme of YS 17. Ultimately, we hope participants will understand that despite living in diversity, we can still live together in harmony through understanding and acceptance and come up with a resolution for different topics to create a more inclusive Hong Kong. The technicalities In YS 17, all participants will be divided into groups, each assigned to a commission group (eg. Education, Social Welfare etc.) and a stakeholder group (e.g. Minority, the Poor etc.). Throughout the whole Summit, participants will take on roles of the assigned groups and debate on social issues related to our theme. Participants must defend their stakeholders’ interests during the debate and the Commission meetings. Eventually, they will be required to come up with a resolution of each social issue discussed during meetings and forums, and analyse the stance of each stakeholder groups towards the issue. The resolutions and analyses will be compiled into a magazine which will be published to the sponsors, guest speakers, participated schools as well as the relevant government departments. Commission Meetings will be supplemented by a series of Interviews and Excursions as well as seminars and talks given by our guests-of-honour. Participants will come into close contact with actual members of their stakeholders’ group and the leading experts in the relevant social issues. Workshops in Commission Meeting rules and public speaking will also be arranged. These experiences, in addition to the Information Pack prepared by the Organising Committee, will allow delegates to engage in productive discussions competently. To better facilitate discussions and debates, we will invite experts from various sectors of the society and government officials as our guest speakers to provide us with more information on the specific issues. Participants will also have a chance to debate with our guest speakers during the City Forum or seminar sections. Our vision By the end of YS 17, we hope that our participants will have developed a strong sense of social awareness and had some insights towards the variety and diversity of different stakeholder groups in Hong Kong. We hope essential skills such as critical thinking, delivering public speech and also expressing personal opinion through writing can be developed or strengthened during the event. Through such, we shall give voice to our youth and provide a glimpse into the future of our city. Theme "Releasing the Sticky Floor – Combating the Stagnation of Social Mobility" HKYS 15 takes Hong Kong’s plateauing social mobility as its theme under the title "Releasing the Sticky Floor – Combating the Stagnation of Social Mobility". Our title alludes to the metaphorical “sticky floor” of income, power and esteem which appears when a statistically significant proportion of the population remains in the same “social floor” into which they were born. By taking our increasingly viscous social mobility as the theme of HKYS 15, we hope to direct our youth’s attention to this worrying trend and cultivate our youngsters as the catalyst for wider public awareness and the conversation on remedies towards this issue. About In HKYS 15, student delegates will assume the roles of an array of stakeholders in Hong Kong. Delegates will be placed in a Commission (e.g. Housing; Education) related to their stakeholders’ concerns. They must defend their stakeholders’ interests in a series of Commission Meetings and strive towards a consensus with other parties to resolve the issue on the table. The resolutions reached at the end will be collected in the Resolution Booklet, which will be delivered to relevant organisations and decision-making bodies to reflect the views of our youngsters. Commission Meetings will be supplemented by a series of Interviews and Excursions as well as seminars and talks given by our guests-of-honour. Delegates will come into close contact with actual members of their stakeholders’ group and the leading experts on the social issues being discussed. Workshops in Commission Meeting rules and public speaking will also be arranged. These experiences, in addition to the Information Pack prepared by the Organising Committee, will allow delegates to engage in productive discussions competently. The unique feature of HKYS 15 and all past Hong Kong Youth Summits is that all Commission Meetings will occur simultaneously. There will be no less than 7 stakeholders represented in each Commission. This distinctive arrangement makes it possible for diverse and lively discussions on an array of issues to take place over the course of a month. All delegates will benefit from the insights produced in separate Commission Meetings when they convene for the Final Summit and by reading the Resolution Booklet. Further details will be released during HKYS 15. #3 Project Resonance 2015 Introduction Project Resonance 2015 – “Summer Lagoon” (PR 15) will be held from 29th June, 2015 to 26th July, 2015. Participants shall dive into a wide range of minority subcultures in Hong Kong. Often unfairly stigmatised or ignored and hence denied their rightful opportunity to flourish, our minorities bear the brunt of the not-so-friendly side of the city. We would like to grasp the opportunity to take a closer look at our minorities which, after all, when added up, constitutes an indispensable part of society, both in terms of number and its contribution towards diversifying the colourful social fabric of Hong Kong. Why “Summer Lagoon”??!?! Literally, a lagoon is a shallow body of water separated from a larger body of water by carrier islands or reefs. Metaphorically, a lagoon surrounded by mesmerising natural scenery – the placid waters of a lagoon under a blue sky fringed by towering palm trees, for example – evokes feelings of bliss, peace and harmony. This echoes the harmonious relationships maintained between Hong Kong citizens and the minorities within them as a single community. By naming Project Resonance 2015 “Summer Lagoon”, we express our aim to gather students into an inclusive circle where different personalities are enclosed together to form harmonious relationships like the calm waters of a summer lagoon. This playful title also contains our hope to provide a fun summer experience for our participants, as well as taking them on an exploration of the relatively unknown “carrier islands or reefs” around us. Together we shall walk into uncharted territory, expand our horizons and return with a greater breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding towards our minority communities to build “one community” in Hong Kong. Programme details Participants will be divided into 6 groups under the same number of chosen minority communities (see below for details). Project Resonance 2015 shall be divided into three Phases. Phase I Phase One is designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of minorities in Hong Kong. It shall include site visits, interviews with minority communities and affiliated persons and cultural experience interest classes. Phase II Phase Two sets out to consolidate participants’ improved understanding of minorities from Phase One. Participants shall produce a pre-camp promotional video on a topic related to their chosen minorities. The video shall be uploaded online to the public domain. It will hopefully prove to be an effective medium to disseminate information on minority issues and share the participants’ reflection from Phase One with the secondary school community and beyond. Moreover, the active learning process involved shall hopefully further enhance their appreciation of the facts and opinion related to minority issues. In addition, the video will be used as to promote the Carnival Showcase in Phase Three. Phase III Phase Three includes our Association’s flagship Interflow Camp ends with a Carnival Showcase. In the Interflow Camp, participants shall take part in team-building activities in their own groups and also together with all other participants. This shall enhance the sense of camaraderie shared by all participants in preparation for the finale of the Project – Carnival Showcase. In the Showcase, participants shall set up stalls in a Carnival open to the public. They shall share the knowledge that they have gathered and their reflections triggered by the exciting series of experiences hitherto in the Project to promote greater public concern for the interests of local minorities. Ultimately, the Showcase shall be a key stage in realising the overarching goal of Project Resonance 2015: promoting the inclusion of stigmatised/underprivileged minority communities to widen their access to the opportunities available in Hong Kong’s mainstream culture.  The minority communities up for consideration include: 1. Sexual and gender minorities; 2. Ethnic minorities; 3. The disabled; 4. Religious minorities; 5. Tree huggers; 6. Japanophiles； 7. Heritage Conservationists; 8. Street Artists. Aims Project Resonance 2015 seeks to understand the lives and experiences of minority communities in Hong Kong as a step towards promoting cohesion in this socially and culturally eclectic city. Through cultural experience sessions, Interflow camp (I-camp) and our Carnival Showcase – a public carnival where participants exhibit the product of their learning journey throughout the Project – we aim to guide participants to develop a comprehensive and sympathetic understanding of the minorities’ life and culture. Bearing in mind the utmost importance of presenting a balanced point of view on this potentially controversial topic, Project Resonance 2015 shall emphasise on constructing factual accounts of minority issues and developing understanding towards minorities through simulating personal experiences of the challenges confronted by minorities in Hong Kong. Application Eligibility & Selection Criteria All local students from Form 3 to Form 6 (Year 9 – Year 12) are welcome to apply as either a participant or a member of the Organising Committee. The ideal applicant should: Display a keen interest in local minorities; Be able to think critically and creatively; Be conversationally fluent in both Cantonese and English. OLE Hours Certificates will be issued to all organising committee members and participants with their completion of the programme with satisfying attendance rate. OLE hours will also be awarded. < Back Social Service Series - "Voyage Beyond" Successfully Held! Date posted: 24/12/21, 6:00 am Last updated: 30/5/22, 9:43 pm The Voyage Beyond Social Service Series, a collaboration with the Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association, has ended on a high note. Read on for a joyous recap! Group photo taken during Session 3: Fun Day The " Voyage Beyond " Social Service Series, organised jointly by the Hong Kong Outstanding Students’ Association and Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association, was successfully held from November to December 2021. Targeting young children from low-income families, the activities aimed to pique their interest in English through interactive methods and increase their confidence in speaking English in the long run. Volunteers' Training Workshops A series of activities were designed by volunteers from different secondary schools and the our ExCo members over the period. Training workshops were held November by our ExCo members to brief volunteers on the programme and equip them with the necessary event management and communication skills. Service Sessions 1 & 2: Storytelling The service sessions kickstarted in December. A dozen of young participants listened to tales from around the world in engaging storytelling sessions and played group games that consolidated their newly acquired knowledge. Tales told in the sessions include " Momotaro" from Japan and "The Empty Pot" from ancient China. The activities exposed our participants to different cultures and taught them to embrace the diversity across borders. Service Session 3: Fun Day Towards the end of the programme, participants had a fun time making kibi dango , a snack which appeared in the Japanese story. The social service series concluded with a taste-testing session of the snacks prepared and a group photo session. A Very Merry Christmas Overall, responses from both the volunteers and children are positive as evidenced by their active participation in the programme and post-event evaluation. Designed to be different from the usual classroom setting, the highly interactive Voyage Beyond social service series made English more approachable for young learners, and gave them a taste of travelling abroad at the time when outbound travel became difficult. As our vision goes, we will continue to make unremitting efforts to “synergise and serve” different disadvantaged groups. Previous Next

By combining the creativity and wisdom of Hongkongers, your designs may become a part of our Lunar New Year Stall, to be seen, shared, and sold to the general public. This is a testing ground for your abilities; a display case for your capabilities. Introduction As an active advocate of young people's expression of original ideas, this year, we are organising the Business Flyer, which aims at unleashing potential of young minds by educating entrepreneurship. In a successful business model, expertise at different aspects, such as writing, communication, designing, etc, is required. Youngsters will be encouraged to send us their ideas and experts in this area will choose the winning groups. The winning groups’ plans will then be implemented in the Lunar New Year Stall. Through the process of designing products and marketing strategies, young people can uncover and utilise their talents to contribute to the society in the future. Another objective of the programme is to showcase the talents of Hong Kong people. Hong Kong students have always been encouraged to ‘think out of the box’. However, very often, students lack a platform to implement their ideas. The programme is a platform which gathers the creativity of all Hong Kong people. As long as they have an idea, we will help them implement it. At the same time, any profits will be donated to an NGO of the team’s preference. This allows participants to contribute to the society while doing business. This can also promote the concept of social enterprise and responsible business. There will be open recruitment for talents and helpers to gather ideas from students all over Hong Kong. Every student in Hong Kong can grasp the opportunity and put what they learn into practice. This not only involves business, but also creativity, management and applied technology, etc. Programme highlights The Business Flyer comprises of a series of training activities on the Orientation Day for helpers as well as the Lunar New Year Stall. Orientation Series Students will be divided into groups by the Committee or arranged into their own preferred groups. There will be ice-breaking sessions to foster team spirit on the group. Group members can understand each other better so as to have an initial idea on what roles they would play in a business team. Furthermore, after a talk, participants will be able to get a taste of marketing in the business world through a MTR pitch (a variant of Elevator Pitch). Participants would possess a thorough picture of how to promote products effectively. Lunar New Year Stall Chosen proposals will be implemented. The products will be sold at the Lunar New Year Stall. The Executive Committee shall discuss with helpers to design concrete marketing strategies, prices, logistics, design, etc. It aims at creating a platform for participants to actualise their proposals through implementing the proposal of the winning team of the Business Flyer. From the programme, there will be a wide spectrum of marketing ideas and some products that they are keen to launch to the general public. By considering their valuable ideas, we will hold a stall in the Lunar New Year Market for selling their suggested products, hence bring up their brilliant business concepts into real market. The stall will be maintained by the Executive Committee members under the assistance of helpers. This is the most prominent reason why this stall are unique and different from those hold by other organizations. Programme specifics Second-round Assessment: 10th November 2017 (Friday) Orientation Camp: 11th to 12th November 2017 (Saturday to Sunday) Empowerment Talk: 03rd December 2017 (Sunday) Product Presentation: 10th December 2017 (Sunday) Lunar New Year Stalls: 10th to 16th February (seven days) Working language Cantonese will be the main language throughout the programme. Eligibility and Selection Criteria Secondary school students from Form 4-5 (Year 10-11) and Year 1 University Students are eligible to apply as helpers. Students can be interested in different aspects such as Arts and Design, but not necessarily business. Other Learning Experience Hours Local students joining BF17 will be granted certified OLE hours if they can attend all our orientation events and actively participate during events. Full participation throughout the whole event will lead to the award of up to 100 OLE hours. The Association will provide certificates to participants if they attain full participation rate. Our flagship external project, Youth Summit, has been held continuously for years and aroused strong repercussions among students. The Project has been renowned for its representation in debating on controversial current affairs. It is one of the largest platforms for secondary students that sheds lights on understanding and accepting the pluralism of the Hong Kong society. Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.’ Some say education is a one-size-fits-all model, a gigantic machinery where every one of us are scored, assessed, our achievements kept tally of. This summer, we are ready to dive deep and get to the bottom of doubts: Is the current education system undermining creativity? Is STEAM going to take us to the next level? Do Special and Gifted Education really cater to corresponding students? Are students put under too much academic pressure? Come on an EdVenture and find out! Knowing that various conflicts concerning the Education System of Hong Kong have been stirred up in the society, this year we proudly present Youth Summit 2018-EdVenture for all secondary and Year 1 university students to further conduct their discussions and propose resolutions for the betterment of the education system of Hong Kong. Areas of Focus - STEAM Education - Special Education (of students with ADHD, dyslexia, mental retardation, and/or autism) - Gifted Education - Academic Pressure (of both students and teachers) Programme Objectives - Provide an opportunity for participants to gain insights into educational issues - Prompt evaluation on the pros and cons of the Hong Kong education system - Guide participants to propose a solution for the educational issues discussed - Return back to society with active actions contributing to tackling the issues Timeline 30 June : Orientation Day @ The University of Hong Kong 1-6 July : Excursion Period @ schools and institutes all over Hong Kong (exact dates and venues to be confirmed) 7, 9, 14 July : Youth Forum @ The University of Hong Kong 17 July : Final Campaign @ The University of Hong Kong Other Learning Experience Hours Local students joining Edventure18 will be granted certified OLE hours if they attend all our orientation events and actively participate during events. Full participation throughout the whole event will lead to the award of up to 45 OLE hours. The Association will provide certificates to participants if they attain 80% participation rate.
